Late 2011 catch-up post
OK, looking at the blog, I discover that the last book review was posted in September – number 29 of 52 in fact. With about six weeks of 2011 left, how is the challenge looking?
Below is a list of the books I have read in the last couple of months but not yet blogged about, or am in the process of reading – this brings the total for the year so far up to 43 – meaning that the book-a-week challenge is still eminently do-able, I should say!
Here’s the list:
- With A Little Help by Cory Doctorow
- The Histories by Herodotus
- The Walking Dead: Days gone bye by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore et al
- The Devil’s Chaplain by Richard Dawkins
- The Remains of an Altar by Phil Rickman
- Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett
- The Silver Pigs and Shadows in Bronze by Lindsey Davis
- The King’s Evil by Edward Marston
- Saturnalia by Lindsey Davis
- Nevermore ed. Dan Whitehead
- The Bones of Avalon by Phil Rickman
- The Oxford Book of Modern Science Writing ed. Richard Dawkins
- Heartstone by CJ Sansom
Next year I have something a little different planned.
It is my intention to try to read the complete essays of the 16th century French writer Michel de Montaigne – I have a Penguin edition that runs to more than 1,000 pages and which, a bit of calculation from the contents page shows, needs to be read at the rate of two a week.
So, that’s the plan. I’ll obviously need some light relief from that, and so will hopefully be blogging about some reading for pleasure too. I’ve set up a page for the project here. I hope you’ll join me…
